A Union City pair was arrested in Lone Oak last week on charges of illegal and stolen firearms.

On Saturday at 3:30 a.m., deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Waffle House in Lone Oak in reference to reports of an armed subject.

A deputy observed a vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed and stopped it in a nearby parking lot. A search of the vehicle revealed a rifle and a handgun.

Deputies determined that one of the firearms had been reported stolen out of Union City, and also learned that one of the occupants was a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms.

They arrested 25-year-old Jermize Weddle for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and 19-year-old Cornelius Davis for receiving stolen property.
