A Virginia man was arrested Tuesday in Benton on fraud and identity theft charges.
Benton Police were alerted by a financial institution that a man tried to complete a bank transaction with identity documents that appeared suspicious. After police arrived at the scene, the man took off on foot, running across Poplar Street before being caught near 6th Street. Officers reportedly had to use a taser in the arrest process. They said there were no serious injuries.
Investigators said that Dylan Anderson of Virginia provided a Mississippi driver’s license and Social Security card that proved to be fictitious.
