In an effort to monitor and prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has implemented a special antlerless season for zone 1-3 counties within the CWD Surveillance Zone.
Firearms, bows or crossbows may be used during this season, but only antlerless deer may be harvested.
During Sept. 25-28, the special season is in effect for the western Kentucky counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken.
Other Kentucky counties where the CWD Surveillance Zone is in effect includes Breckinridge, Casey, Hardin, Henderson, Laurel, Lincoln, Meade, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Union, Wayne and Webster.
Zone bag limits and hunter orange requirements apply, along with mandatory sampling requirements.
