Kentucky's largest pumpkin and watermelon were weighed and crowned at the Kentucky State Fair on Saturday.
Josh Monin of Grayson County brought the winning pumpkin and it weighed in at 1,882 pounds, which smashed the all-time fair record, state fair officials said. The gigantic gourd is 261 pounds more than last year's winner, also turned in by Monin.
Nick McCaslin of Hankcock County brought the largest watermelon, and it weighed in at 245.7 pounds, state fair officials said. McCaslin was also a repeat champion; last year's melon weighed in at 258 pounds.
Both winners won cash prizes for their monster produce; Monin's pumpkin earned him a prize of two dollar a pound, or $3,764.80, while McCaslin's watermelon was good for $500.
The winning produce will stay on display at the Kentucky State Fair until Aug. 30.
