A grand slam by Brett Haas vaulted the Paducah Chiefs to a 7-3 win over Fulton in a rain-delayed game Sunday night at Brooks Stadium.
The St. Mary alum Haas' blast capped off a five-run 8th inning after being tied 2-2.
The Railroaders (0-3) made some noise in the 9th with a late run, then loaded the bases to bring the tying run to the plate, but a closing strikeout gave the Chiefs their second win of the year without a loss.
The Chiefs got a solid six-inning performance from starting pitcher Avery Starks of Murray, who scattered two hits and gave up a run.
The Chiefs travel to face the Hoptown Hoppers on Monday night. The next home game for the Chiefs will be Tuesday at 6:30 against the Henderson Flash.
