Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz announced in a statement on Monday that students at Calloway County Middle School in Murray won their regional competition over the weekend and will advance to the national finals, which are held in Washington from April 28 to May 2.
The National Science Bowl competition has thousands of middle and high school students from across the country compete to solve technical problems and answer questions about the sciences including biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics and math.
The statement says $1,000 is given to the top 16 high school teams and the top 16 middle school teams who participate in the national competition.
