Murray Hospital Mammographies Move to South Tower
By WestKyStar & Murray-Calloway County Hosptial Staff
MURRAY - Beginning on February 27th, Murray-Calloway County Hospital will see their first mammography patient in the newly renovated area located in the Radiology Department of the South Tower.

Within this area patients scheduled for mammography exams, biopsies, needle localizations, breast ultrasounds, and DEXA/BMA will now be seen in a modern, comfortably designed area within the South Tower.

Patients will register in the South Tower main lobby registration and once they have registered will then proceed to the main Radiology Waiting Room until they are escorted to the new area.

Also, beginning in March Low Dose 3D Mammography exams will be offered.  Low Dose Genius 3D Mammography ™ exams are an advanced type of digital mammogram that offer better cancer detection, fewer call backs, minimal compression time and greater peace of mind at a dose comparable to a conventional digital mammogram.

Large clinical studies have demonstrated the positive benefits of Low Dose 3D Mammography ™ exams including:
• Earlier detection of small breast cancers that may be hidden in a conventional mammogram
• Greater accuracy in pinpointing size, shape and location of abnormalities
• Fewer unnecessary biopsies or additional tests
• Greater likelihood of detecting multiple breast tumors
• Clearer images of dense breast tissue
• Maintained 3D Mammography™ exam performance, at a 2D-like dose

Low Dose Genius 3D Mammography™ exams are recommended for women of all ages and breast densities.
