Arraignments for a Murray Police Department officer arrested this week for sexual offenses were held Thursday.

The Murray Sentinel reported arraignments were held in Trigg District Court and Calloway District Court for 44-year-old Justin Swope of Almo, who was arrested Wednesday on a count of sodomy and two counts of rape in borh counties.

Swope was arrested after a victim came forward and told Kentucky State Police she had began having sexual relations with Swope in 2018 when she was 15 years old.  The Trigg County charges relate to a specific event in 2019 while the Calloway County charges relate to an incident in 2021.

Swope, who resigned his position as a detective following his arrest, is being held in the McCracken County Detention Center on a $50,000 Trigg County bond and a $20,000 Calloway County bond.

He will appear for a preliminary hearing May 26th in Trigg District Court and May 27th in Calloway District Court.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are anticipated.
