Body of Alabama man found in Caldwell County

The remains of a missing Alabama man were found during a search in Caldwell County on Saturday.

The Caldwell County Sheriffs department said the body of 83-year old Roy Jackson, of Florence, was found not far from the Trusty Cemetery where his vehicle had been abandoned. The remains were reportedly located in some underbrush near a stream.

The Caldwell County Coroner’s office has requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.

An extensive ground search using K-9s, drones, watercraft and personnel on horseback had been underway since Monday when Jackson’s abandoned vehicle was found in a field adjacent to the cemetery. 

Jackson was last seen near his home in Alabama on April 7th.
