Legislation was introduced in Washington on Thursday that will remove a National Park Service restriction imposed on property owned by the city of Paducah.
The change would empower local officials to fully transfer the property to the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club, which would then allow the organization to renovate and improve their facilities, including an updated gym and additional classrooms.
The property was conveyed to the city through the Federal Lands to Parks Program, but NPS still holds one restriction on the property.
Congressman James Comer introduced the bill in the House, and U.S. Senator Rand Paul introduced the Senate companion bill. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell is an original cosponsor.
