An Eddyville penitentiary prisoner convicted of a 2008 triple murder died Sunday of natural causes.

Kevin Wayne Dunlap died at University of Louisville Hospital after being transported from the Kentucky State Penitentiary.

The 51-year-old former soldier from Hopkinsville was on death row awaiting execution for the 2008 murders of three siblings in the Roaring Springs community.

Dunlap raped and stabbed Kristy Frensley, then killed her three children, Kayla Williams, Kortney Frensley, and Ethan Frensley when they returned home from school. Dunlap then set the house on fire.

Kristy Frensley was able to escape and survived.

WKDZ reported that Dunlap was sentenced to six death penalties, three life sentences, and 55 years in prison during a 2010 trial in Livingston County circuit court.
