A Florida man arrested after running from McCracken County deputies during a suspicious person complaint last week is facing additional charges after a search of his vehicle.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said on Friday that after his arrest, a search was conducted on the vehicle of 27-year-old Andrew C. Brown, of Oakhill, Florida. That search reportedly uncovered drugs, and stolen items, including a gun.

Brown is not legally allowed to possess a gun as he has prior felony convictions.

Last week, deputies were dispatched to Deerhaven Lane due after a resident saw an individual attempting to enter a vehicle.

Deputies then found Brown entering a vehicle on Summer Place Drive.

When deputies attempted to stop Brown, he reportedly fled on foot, but was captured a short time later.

Brown was arrested and initially charged with attempted theft by unlawful taking of an auto, theft by unlawful taking of all others, fleeing or evading police, and criminal mischief.

He has been additionally charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a legend drug, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and receiving stolen property.

McCracken County deputies have been working with Montana authorities on the case.
