The Fort Massac Encampment has become the subject of an email scam.
According to a post from the Greater Metropolis Visitors Bureau, an email has been circulating falsely claiming to represent Fort Massac Encampment vendor coordinators. The email says that the encampment is accepting money from additional vendors due to last-minute cancellations. This is a scam.
Official vendor approvals and contracts for the Fort Massac Encampment are handled exclusively through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources
Vendors should also note that only those with an official IDNR contract will be permitted to operate at the encampment.
If you receive suspicious communication regarding vendor applications, fees, or approvals, do not share personal information or send payment. Instead, forward the message to director@metropolistourism.com or contact Fort Massac State Park directly for verification.
