UPDATE:
The Brookport Fire Department, victims of a recent break-in that cost them some valuable lifesaving equipment, has seen immediate support from fellow firefighters.
Chief Joseph Wooten posted that in less than 24 hours from the discovery of the theft, they received a loaner set of extrication tools hand delivered to them by the Makanda Township Fire Department.
The Brookport fire chief said he has been personally contacted by at least 6 different department officers and a fire equipment sales rep wanting to help them out.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Authorities are seeking information about three people involved in theft of equipment from the Brookport Fire Department.
The theft occurred late Thursday into early Friday morning.
Equipment taken reportedly included a full set of Hurst brand extrication tools, the power unit for their "Jaws of life," an orange K12 circular saw and a ten-pound sledgehammer.
The three individuals are on surveillance video, but they concealed their identities.
The fire department said the thieves were specific in taking the tools they did, and they warn local residents to take extra precautions because those specific tools could easily be used for further break-ins.
Anyone with information about the theft or the identities of those being sought is urged to reach out to the Brookport Police Department or the Massac County Sheriff's Office.
