A man was arrested Friday in Paducah on several sexual-related charges including rape and sodomy.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they were notified Sunday by the Benton County, TN Sheriff's office that an alleged sexual assault which occured in McCracken County was reported to them.
The victim's father reported his two daughters made statements that they were sexually assaulted while visiting a McCracken County residence.
During the investigation, it was determined the two girls, both under 12 years old, were sexually assaulted multiple times by 30-year-old Gregory Scheffer. The investigation also showed the victims were subjected to "extreme punishments" along with the sexual abuse.
Scheffer was arrested outside a residence in the 800 block of Washington Street. He was charged with two counts of sodomy, two counts of rape, two counts of sexual abuse, two counts of criminal abuse and two counts of incest and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
The investigation is continuing and more charges and suspects are possible.
