2 Traffic Stops Result in Multiple Charges

Two separate traffic stops resulted in multiple charges for 3 persons.

On Monday at approximately 12:24 AM, a McCracken County Sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of John Puryear and Eich Road. Deputies located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The operator of the vehicle, 40-year-old Carrie Shryock of Paducah, KY, was placed under arrest and lodged at McCracken Regional Jail charged with rear license plate not illuminated, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


On Tuesday at approximately 1:37 AM, a McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of John Puryear and Oaks Road. The operator of the motor vehicle, 28-year-old Matthew Culwell of Golconda, IL, was placed under arrest on multiple charges. During a probable cause search of the vehicle deputies located several prescription pills, marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Culwell was charged with failure to or improper signal, careless driving, operating on suspended license, DUI 1st, trafficking in legend drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was discovered that Culwell had outstanding warrants from Massac County and Pope County, IL. Culwell was additionally charged with two counts of being a fugitive from another state.

A passenger in the motor vehicle, 18-year-old Devonda Lucker of Metropolis, IL was cited into court for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
