Each of the first three days of October shattered all-time marks in Paducah, and that was after a record 95 degrees on the last day of September.
Tuesday, October 1st climbed to 94 degrees, which eclipsed the previous high of 93 set in 1953.
Wednesday soared to 96 degrees. It was not only the new record for the date (passing another 93-degree day in 1953), but it also became the hottest of any October day ever in Paducah. The previous all-time high for the month was 95 degrees, set on October 6, 1938.
Even though Thursday slacked off to a high of 92, that was enough to break the day's mark of 90 set just last year.
Paducah's normal high for this time of October is 77 degrees.
Friday promises to be just that -- normal, with a forecast high of 78 degrees.
Just as welcome as relief from heat is the anticipated rain over the weekend, especially on Sunday night. Next week, even more 70-degree afternoons await on Monday and Tuesday.
