Michelle Bowling said she had spoken with personnel at Concord Elementary to have her daughter use a different bus stop for the week, as there would be no adults at her normal bus stop. Bowling said that the school informed her they would provide her daughter with a bus note to get her to the right destination.
In a comment posted to Facebook, Bowling said her daughter told her that staff at Concord had tried to put her on the wrong bus, however staff allegedly said that she didn't have a bus note and would be dropped off at her normal stop. According to Bowling, no one from the school attempted to contact her to verify what her daughter had said.
Bowling said her seven-year-old was then found walking down the road towards a busy street by a local business on September 18.
Concord Elementary School Principal Aaron Edwards told West Kentucky Star that a new bus note is required for every day they ride a different bus, stating that although Bowling had discussed the plans with staff, it would still require a new bus note for each day of the week a different bus was used.
Bowling announced on Facebook that her child will no longer attend Concord Elementary, saying, "As of today my child is no longer a student at Concord Elementary. The lack of consequences and concern on behalf of that school has been mind blowing to say the least."
Bowling continued on Facebook, "No responsibility for any of this has been taken by the school, no public apology, no employee accountability, NOTHING."
