Bids were opened and awarded at 2:00 pm Thursday at the school board office.
Information provided to West Kentucky Star shows that A&K Construction and Pinnacle Construction submitted bids, and the bid from A&K was about $700,000 cheaper.
Each bid had a base cost, plus several "alternate" costs, which the board can individually select for the contractor to complete. Those include a concession building, synthetic turf, grandstands and a press box, and installation of turn lanes which would eventually be reimbursed by the state.
The base bid from A&K was $29,899,000, and the total including all alternatives was $31,953,000. The bids from Pinnacle were $30,594,000 and $32,750,712.
A construction timeline has not yet been set. The new school will be built along Bleich Road near Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary School.
