A deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office was involved in a crash on Lone Oak Road.

Monday afternoon the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Mercy EMS, and the Lone Oak Fire Department responded to an accident with injuries on Lovelaceville Road, shortly after 5:00.

According to the sheriff's department, one of the first responders collapsed, did not have a pulse, and was not breathing. Resuscitating efforts began and units worked together to provide an escort for the ambulance transporting the first responder to the hospital.

Due to the time of day, heavy traffic, and it being a life or death situation, the sheriff's department advises that this is a very common practice for law enforcement to provide such an escort.

While assisting, Deputy Jim Wilson, with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. This collision occurred on Lone Oak Road near Highland Blvd, at approximately 5:36 pm.

One driver involved in this collision was taken to a local hospital. Deputy Wilson and the other driver were not injured.

The Paducah Police Department was requested to work the crash involving the Sheriff's Department cruiser. This is a common practice to have an outside agency work this type of accident to ensure transparency.

The Sheriff's Department reports that the first responder arrived safely at the hospital, but no updates on their condition are available at this time.
