Area Law Enforcement Assist in $3.5M Meth Bust

McCracken County Sheriff's Office and other area law enforcement assisted in a methamphetamine bust worth $3.5 million.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, detectives were able to identify numerous people in the area with ties to a large drug ring based in Atlanta, GA that was distributing methamphetamine throughout Western Kentucky. Deputies say they discovered that a large amount of the methamphetamine would be delivered to a person on John Puryear Drive on Sunday, September 29.

Numerous area law enforcement began surveillance in the area, and in the process an arrest was made that resulted in 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine being discovered. Detectives were able to uncover numerous addresses from in and around Atlanta that were allegedly involved in the drug ring, which deputies then shared with law enforcement in Atlanta.

On Monday, September 30, law enforcement in Atlanta obtained search warrants for multiple homes and performed searches. In one of the homes, detectives allegedly discovered 77 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $3.5 million, and made three arrests.

Sheriff Matt Carter spoke about the investigation, saying, "These investigations are continued examples of the strong work ethic and unwavering determination we have to make our community the safest it can be. The collective efforts and ability to network with agencies across county and state lines should be noted as detrimental to the criminal elements' efforts to subject our community to this poison. Time after time the criminal element attempts to use jurisdictional boundaries to their advantage. These cases exemplify that jurisdictional boundaries will not prevent justice from being executed due to great teamwork."

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
