A judge has denied a bond reduction request from a Lone Oak woman charged with severely injuring a baby.

During a preliminary hearing Thursday, court records show McCracken County District Judge Todd Jones declined to reduce a $1 million bond for 47-year-old Melany Mohundro.

McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Mohundro on July 23 on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse of a child, after an investigation showed she violently shook a 9-month old child in her care for crying, causing serious injuries. The child was airlifted to an area pediatric trauma center for treatment.

Mohundro is due back in court on Sept. 17.
