Republican Randy Bridges filed as a candidate for the 3rd district of the Kentucky House of Representatives, and will attempt to unseat Democrat Gerald Watkins.

In a press release, Bridges said he's running because he feels obligated to speak up for "the silent majority" on issues that impact current and future Kentuckians.

Bridges said his goal is to bring jobs, opportunity, and new hope to the people of western Kentucky, by making a positive difference. He pledges to stand strong for the voters as a pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-life, pro-guns and pro-family candidate.

Bridges is a Realtor with RE/MAX Realty Group.

The Kentucky House 3rd District represents part of McCracken County.

Below is Randy Bridges' press release:

"I’m so blessed and proud to be a lifelong western Kentuckian. I am a husband, father, grandfather, and a small business owner who understands how to make the hard calls when facing tough decisions.

Unfortunately, I have come to the realization that there are those in Frankfort who are more concerned about pleasing their peers than about supporting the welfare of those who elected them. People have asked me every day since I expressed an interest in running for office by saying, "Why on earth do you want to be a politician?” My answer is that I have no desire to be a politician, but I do feel an obligation to speak up for the silent majority on issues that not only impact our lives today, but will impact the future of our children & grandchildren.

I pledge to stand strong for the people I hope to serve. I promise to work diligently and do the right thing for the voters. I have decided to enter the race for the Kentucky House of Representatives in order to make a positive difference. My goal is to bring jobs, opportunity and new hope for the people of western Kentucky.  I am pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-life, pro-guns, and pro-family.  Join me and together we can build a stronger district and more dynamic Commonwealth."
