Brothers Give Back, Clean Floodwall Mural Panels

Before the scorching sun made its way over the Floodwall in downtown Paducah, three brothers were busy making a difference in their community. 

Gabe Jones, Deacon Jones and Auggie Jones cleaned the bronze interpretive panels in front of each of the 50 Paducah Wall to Wall Dafford Floodwall Murals Thursday morning. Despite the miserable heat and humidity, the Boy Scouts from Troop 2200 in Lone Oak were determined to get in some service hours. 

They also cleaned each spotlight as they made their way along the three city blocks, adding the train marker when they came to the historic steam locomotive 1518 at the corner of Water Street and Kentucky Avenue. 

When asked why they were doing this, Auggie, the youngest of the three said, “We try to leave things better than we found them,” and they certainly did. 

The boys asked what else they could do to serve the community and Wall to Wall Director Ro Morse suggested several other projects. 'It won’t be long until they will be back out in the area working on their next project. It's encouraging to see these young citizens embrace history and serve their community."
