CD McCord 'Virtual 5K' Underway
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - A virtual 5K run to honor a Paducah special education teacher who was killed last week is taking place today through Saturday.

C.D. McCord taught at Paducah Middle School and at McCracken County High School. She was allegedly killed by a paroled felon she had helping as he tried to adjust to life outside of prison.

Those who want to take part in the "Love Like C.D." run are asked to donate $10 to the C.D. McCord Family Memorial Fund at the GoFundMe page, then send in a screen shot of their route and time to organizers. Runners or walkers are encouraged to wear McCord's favorite color, which is orange. Prizes will be given to the top two men and women finishers.

The run is sponsored by Cross Fit Dig Deep.

The Paducah Public Schools Foundation is also establishing the C.D. McCord Special Education Teacher Scholarship. It will be used to assist a Paducah Tilghman high school graduate who is interested in pursuing a career in special education.

Anyone may contribute by sending a gift to the Paducah Public Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 2550, Paducah, KY 42002-2550.
