On Wednesday, McCracken County deputies were called to IC Avenue after a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. Upon arrival, deputies say they learned that 22-year-old Crystal Thiel of Paducah had been traveling east on IC Avenue, while 21-year-old Michael Morgan of Calvert City was walking down IC Avenue and approaching Reidland Road.
Thiel reportedly told deputies that she was upset and traveling faster than she should have been. She was also allegedly adjusting her radio as she approached the intersection of IC Avenue and Reidland Road.
Deputies say Morgan heard the car approaching as he went to cross the roadway, but didn't realize how fast the car was going. As he crossed the road Thiel struck him.
Morgan was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
