KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney thanked Senator Carroll for his dedication to cities. “We appreciate Senator Carroll’s willingness to sponsor legislation that addresses the need for equality among our cities,” he said. “The alcohol regulatory license fee is just one example of legislation that is not applied to every city in the same manner. We will continue to advocate for measures that ensure all municipalities have the same opportunities and economic tools.”
“Cities are a vital part of the commonwealth, and when they have the ability grow and prosper our entire state benefits,” Senator Carroll remarked. “I am grateful to the Kentucky League of Cities for this award, and I look forward to continuing to work with them during the 2020 Session to advocate and support legislation that improves our local communities.”
KLC Director of Governmental Affairs Bryanna Carroll pointed out that cities utilize the funds collected through an alcohol regulatory license fee to make their communities safer. “By making the law more equitable, a greater number of cities can fund the administrative and law enforcement costs that result from the sale of alcohol,” she noted. “It is important that all cities have the revenue needed to ensure citizens are protected.”
Founded in 1927, the Kentucky League of Cities is a membership association of more than 370 cities across the commonwealth. KLC bestows the “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award on legislators who perform outstanding work advocating for issues that impact cities across the state.
