An administrator with the Union County School District is being considered for the Superintendent position with McCracken County Schools.
McCracken County School Board member Steve Shelby confirmed to West Kentucky Star they interviewed Steve Carter on Sunday evening. He is currently the Deputy Superintendent of Union County Schools in Morganfield, and has over 20 years experience in education.
Shelby said it was a, "very strong interview," and he was, "very impressed," with Carter.
The superintendent screening committee unanimously recommended Carter to the board last week. They had received 13 applicants for the position.
Shelby said they will continue discussions on Carter's qualifications, and still hope to hire a new superintendent by their self-imposed May 16 deadline.
