Record breaking cold has hit the area.  In fact, it's so cold that as of sometime in the 5:00 am hour Friday morning, we broke the all time record for low temperatures in the month of March at Barkley Airport.

The National Weather Service is reporting a temperature of -6 degrees.  The Weather Service says the previous all time record for March was -2.

Despite the frigid start to the day, NWS forecasters say temperatures are expected to rise just above freezing Friday afternoon, and into the 40s for a high over the weekend. The long range forecast has temperatures in the 60s by the middle of next week.
