At Tuesday's Paducah City Commission meeting, commissioners received and provided updates on numerous city projects.

Principal Planner Katie Axt attended the meeting to provide an update on their 'City Block' project which involves taking the popular large main parking lot in Downtown Paducah, and redeveloping it with a four story 120 room hotel, public parking spaces, an open public space for gatherings, and 'mixed use' buildings. Axt gave another presentation of the current plans for the City Project and answered several popular questions the community had. You can see the information provided in the meeting at the website linked below.

During the meeting Commissioners approved an ordinance which provided the City Block project with $72,000 for professional geotechnical analysis and environmental review services. The funding is being transferred from the unreserved general fund balance into the Block Project Account.

On a separate note, the Commission also introduced an ordinance which would approve an 'interlocal cooperative agreement' providing $13,335 to the McCracken County PVA. If the ordinance is passed, the funds will go towards assisting the PVA in hiring additional part time staff to help complete property assessments within the Paducah City limits. The commission will vote on this ordinance on November 12).
