A man has been arrested after a dog was found locked in a running vehicle.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to Five Star Convenience Store on Hinkleville Road about 9:30 am. They heard from a concerned citizen that a dog might be trapped in a running vehicle with the heat on, and say the dog appeared to be heavily panting.

Deputies unlocked the vehicle, and say they immediately smelled marijuana. They say 397 grams of marijuana was found inside, along with a scale and drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Isaac Barnhill of Paducah, was arrested for trafficking in marijuana 1st offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to McCracken County Jail.
