A Paducah couple has been arrested after allegedly stealing money from the woman's employer and falsely reporting an armed robbery to cover it up.

Paducah Police say 22-year-old Jasmine Lemus of Jameswood Drive called them just after midnight Friday to report a robbery at Family Video on Lone Oak Road. She told officers two white men came into the store and took money from the cash register, with one man brandishing a handgun.

As police continued interviewing her, Lemus eventually admitted that her husband had taken the money, and she made up the story. When a detective questioned 20-year-old Felipe Lemus, he said he had thrown the money into a wooded area on Lone Oak Road. It was recovered about 6:00 am.

Felipe Lemus was charged with theft by unlawful taking, Jasmine was charged with falsely reporting an incident. They were taken to McCracken Regional Jail.
