Paducah's 55th Annual Lighted Dogwood Trail officially begins today and the Countdown to the Dogwood Trail Bike Ride kicks it all off leaving BikeWorld at 2:30 pm. "The weather this morning is disappointing for the ride, but the blooms are spectacular. Onward and upward," said BikeWorld owners and community biking organizers, Martha Emmons and Hutch Smith.

Get out your bike. This leisurely afternoon bicycle tour along the Dogwood Trail is traditionally the first ride of the cycling season. It starts and ends at BikeWorld, 809 Joe Clifton Dr. The ride takes about an hour and a half at a relaxed pace. New riders, children in trailers, senior citizens, all ages are welcome. No fee. Bicycle helmets are required.

The BikeWorld staff rides along and provides support. There’s also SAG, a follow vehicle. There are some hills on the outer part of the route, but the route is an "out and back" with riders turning around at any point.

Stay for a potluck after the ride. BikeWorld provides meat, drinks and tableware. Riders and families are invited to bring side dishes or desserts.
Additional Dogwood activities will be taking place the next couple of weeks:
