Driver Faces Charges After Hitting McCracken Home

PADUCAH, KY - Two people were injured Sunday when their car crashed into a McCracken County home, and the driver is now facing numerous charges.
Deputies responded to the scene and found 28-year-old John Mimms and 39-year-old Brian Sherfy, both of Paducah inside the vehicle.
According to witnesses, Mimms was driving toward Husband Rd on Hovekamp Rd between speeds of 70 and 80 mph. Mimms failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Hovekamp and Husband road, crashing into 1345 Husband road.
The homeowners, Twyla and James Case were inside the home at the time of the accident, but were not injured.
Investigation showed that Mimms was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Both Mimms and Sherfy were transported to a local hospital for apparent non-life threatening injuries.
Following his release from the hospital early Monday morning, Mimms was charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, driving under the influence, first-degree criminal mischief, as well as a number of traffic violations.
