A local resident was forced to abandon her vehicle Wednesday morning after she drove into a flooded section of roadway.

At around 7:30 am Wednesday McCracken County Deputies were dispatched along with Reidland Farley FD and McCracken County Rescue for a vehicle stranded in high water on Bonds Road near Oaks Road.

Police said the vehicle was unoccupied when they arrived. The owner, Tim Perkins, of Paducah arrived a short time later and advised his wife drove into the flood water on her way to work and stalled the vehicle. The water was not as deep at that time and she was able to walk back to their home. The vehicle was pulled from the water and the road was closed.

Police said sections of other secondary roadways have been closed and there are several locations where water is pooling. As the precipitation continues and changes, police said the road conditions will continue to deteriorate throughout the day.

Authorities are advising drivers not to drive through Flooded roadways or around barricades.
