The former treasurer of a local endowment fund was sentenced for his crimes on Tuesday.

According to the McCracken Circuit Court Clerk, Danny W. Fugate received a sentence of 25 months in jail, and he was immediately taken into custody.

In February, Fugate plead guilty to two charges of theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000).

He was arrested in January 2018 after board members of the McCracken County Community Career Endowment told police they suspected money had been taken from the fund, which provides scholarships for African-American students.

A grand jury indicted Fugate last May on an additional charge of theft by unlawful taking, related to a position he had with the local NAACP.
