The former treasurer of a local endowment fund plead guilty on Monday morning.

According to the McCracken District Court Clerk, 58-year-old Danny W. Fugate pleaded guilty to two charges of theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000).

Fugate was arrested in January 2018 after board members of the McCracken County Community Career Endowment told police they suspected money had been taken from the fund, which provides scholarships for African-American students.

In May, a grand jury indicted Fugate on an additional charge of theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000.) Those charges related to a position he had with the local NAACP.

Fugate's sentencing is set for April 3rd.
