A man charged in the garbage truck-related wrecks and pursuit from March 17 was in court Tuesday.

According to a clerk with the McCracken District Court, four felony charges of assault 1st degree against 23-year-old Dalton Lampley of Calvert City were dismissed without prejudice, which means they can be renewed later. The other two felony assault charges were found to have probable cause, and were bound over to a Grand Jury, which will convene June 8.

In another case against Lampley, probable cause was found on two other charges - fleeing or evading, and reckless driving - and they were also bound over to the June 8 Grand Jury.

"Dalton - as am I - is grateful for the professionalism of all law enforcement involved in this incident and its investigation because, without it, more people would have been injured and the truth not come out," said Lampley's attorney Jeremy Ian Smith.

The McCracken Co. Sheriff's Department says on March 17th, Lampley was driving a garbage truck along I-24 in McCracken County, when he crossed the median and began going the wrong way in the westbound lanes, striking two cars and causing multiple collisions. With police vehicles in pursuit, Lampley continued driving into Marshall County, where he was eventually stopped and arrested.

Lampley allegedly admitted using drugs earlier that day. He faces additional charges in Marshall County.
