The man charged with murder after a fatal fiery crash on August 8 had a court appearance on Thursday.
Ancinio Demarr Friar of Paducah was reportedly driving a car that crashed at a high rate of speed. He was removed from the vehicle and treated for his injuries, but Ronneka S. Hampton was thrown from the car and was declared dead at hospital. Friar was arrested after he was released from the hospital.
At Friar's preliminary hearing, probable cause was found, and the case was bound over to a grand jury. His arraignment is scheduled for October 1 in McCracken Circuit Court.
Friar's car crashed about 2:30 am, shortly after driving past a sheriff's deputy on Old Mayfield Road. The deputy said the car was going 92 mph in a 35 mph zone, but when he began pursuing it, he found it in upside down and in flames a few minutes later.
Along with murder, Friar is charged with DUI, fleeing or evading police, and speeding (more than 25 mph over the limit). At the time of the crash, he also had an outstanding McCracken County warrant for failure to pay child support.
