The McCracken County Public Library is welcoming back patrons who have overdue materials by waiving late fines throughout the month of April. The event coincides with many area schools’ spring breaks, as well as National Library Week, which is the second week of the month.

“This will be our third year to offer fine amnesty in April to welcome back both our patrons and our materials to the library,” said Library Director Susan Baier. “We want the entire McCracken County community to benefit from the wealth of resources the library has to offer. Forgiving overdue fines will restore library access to many who previously were blocked. Last year close to 200 patrons had their library privileges reinstated due to our amnesty period.”

The library is once again encouraging its patrons to return all late materials during this period and have their fines waived regardless of how long the materials have been overdue.

Fees for materials not returned will not be waived. The program is an opportunity for library patrons to bring their accounts back into good standing and for the library to recover materials it might not have otherwise.

For more information, visit the library’s website at www.mclib.net or call 270-442-2510.
