Paducah Mayor Brandi Harless says her campaign will not be using yard signs for the upcoming primary election, and is instead asking residents to help support a local sexual violence advocacy center.

In a statement released Thursday morning, Harless says she will be using a digital yard sign campaign on Facebook instead of conventional yard signs. She asked residents to instead place "Hope Heal Grow" signs in their yards to support LOTUS Sexual Violence and Children's Advocacy Center in Paducah.

"There is nothing normal about our current environment as we begin political campaigns leading up to the primary election in Paducah this June," Harless said. "Given what we are all facing during this health crisis, I am choosing at this point in time to take the opportunity to encourage compassion and concern for each other and for our community. I believe our mission right now should be to spread hope and healing. So I have made the decision to not make use of political yard signs for the primary election cycle. Instead of my political signs dotting the springtime beauty of our homes and yards, I'm launching a digital yard sign campaign. On Facebook, supporters can utilize a Re-elect Mayor Harless profile picture frame."
