According to Kentucky State Police, a trooper clocked a vehicle going 92 mph on US Highway 45 just before midnight Sunday. When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver fled, reportedly reaching speeds as high as 110 mph. After a nine-mile-chase, the driver turned onto Cherry Drive, which is a dead-end street. The driver jumped out of the rolling vehicle and fled on foot, but police were able to take the juvenile into custody after using a Taser.
The suspect reportedly gave several false names to police before they were able to make a positive identification. Troopers also learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Paducah in November.
The Paducah teen was taken to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center and faces charges for speeding, DUI, reckless driving, fleeing or evading police in a vehicle and on foot, receiving stolen property, two counts of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, improper turning, driving without a license or insurance, giving officers a fake name, abandoning a vehicle on the road, improper registration plate, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
