Hot Rods, Food and More Saturday at Ratoberfest

The ninth annual Ratoberfest is this Saturday at Beacon Dragway.

The event features Rat Rods and Hot Rods in a car and bike show welcoming all makes, years, and models. There will also be a swap meet, pinup contest, racing, burnout competitions, women’s shopping pavilion, cruising and food. Gates open at 7 a.m., with admission of $10 per person. Activities continue until awards are presented at 4:30 pm. Shopping in the "Ladies Room," along with a swap meet, raffles, and silent auction will take place throughout the day.

Folks can get an early start on the fun Thursday evening at the Calvert City Drive-in with a special showing of the movie "Grease" at the Pre-Cruise-In.

Event organizer Mark Lawrence says this year's event will be bigger and better than ever. Jaime Brooks with Marshall County Exceptional Center said the event is a huge deal for them, as all of their money comes from community donations.

"We are an adult day facility for adults with disabilities. We've been in business now for 55 years. We only take community donations, so this is a big event for us." She said.

Thursday, Oct. 11

4:30 p.m. - Ratoberfest Pre-Cruise-In at Calvert City Drive-In 

The movie Grease will play on the big screen. The restaurant will be open with the Drive-In's famous burgers, hot dogs, popcorn and more. Wendy Elrod will be there with Ratoberfest t-shirts and apparel and you will be able to purchase your armband for Ratoberfest at a discounted rate of $8.

Saturday, Oct. 13

7 a.m. - Gates Open

7 a.m. - 10 a.m. - Open cruise

8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Silent auction (Pedal Car Raffle $5 each chance)

8 a.m. - 4 p.m. - "The Ladies Room" Specialty vendors

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Flag Drags

2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. - Pinup contest

3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Silent auction ends

3:45 p.m. - Pedal car raffle ends

4 p.m. - Awards
