A single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon injured one person.
McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies responded at 3:09 pm to westbound Interstate 24 near the 14 mile marker. The driver of a passenger van, 64-year-old Doran Andrew Corn of Gilbert, Arizona, told deputies he fell asleep at the wheel. The van veered off the left shoulder and flipped onto its side, trapping Corn inside.
A Trigg County Ambulance that was behind the van when the accident happened was able to help free Corn from the vehicle and provide medical help at the scene. He was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, and Randy’s Towing also provided help at the scene. Both westbound lanes of I-24 were blocked for about 20 minutes until the scene could be cleared.
