The newly-named Interim Superintendent for McCracken County Schools has sent a letter to parents in the district.

Heath Cartwright was appointed by the school board at an emergency meeting on Monday. He has been Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the last nine years.

In his letter, Cartwright said he intends to work closely with the board of education, teachers and staff to continue many great things that are in place, and provide the best environment for students.

Regarding parents' concerns for their children, Cartwright said, "we will stop at nothing to treat each and every student the way we would expect our own children to be treated," and thanked parents for their partnership, trust and support.

Here is Cartwright's complete letter to parents:

Dear MCPS Parents,

Thank you so much for trust that you put in the staff of our great school district.  McCracken County Public Schools is proud to serve this community, and honored to work with each of you to do everything possible to help each and every student throughout this district.

My name is Heath Cartwright, and for the last 9 years, I've been serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for our district.  This afternoon, I was honored and humbled to be asked to serve as the Interim Superintendent for McCracken County Public Schools for the rest of this year.  During this time, I will be working closely with the Board of Education to continue the many great things that are currently in place throughout our schools.  I will be working staff members from throughout the district and from all schools to support all efforts to provide the best environment for each of our students.

Please know that I understand that the 7,000 students that attend school in this district are YOUR children.  It with great sincerity that I say to you that we will stop at nothing to treat each and every student the way that we would expect our own children to be treated.  Thank you for your partnership. We know that McCracken County Public Schools would not be what it is without the the trust and support of parents.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, and/or suggestions.

I genuinely appreciate and honor the trust you have placed in our district to prepare your children and to help them succeed.

Respectfully,
