A Marshall County man is facing charges related to a pickup truck reported stolen from a business.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, on July 16, someone reported a pickup truck had been taken from inside a fenced area on the property of Central Paving on Clarks River Road. Detectives say the suspect rammed the locked gate with the vehicle in order to get away.

Later that day the truck was reportedly spotted in Calvert City. Working with Calvert City Police to get surveillance video, detectives were able to identify the driver of the pickup truck as 36-year-old Austin Lockard.

Three days later, the vehicle was found on Milliken Road, and was recovered.

Detectives learned that Lockard was jailed Monday in an unrelated vehicle theft case in Obion County, Tennessee, so they traveled there Wednesday to interview him. Detectives say Lockard admitted that he stole the pickup truck, and blamed his crime on methamphetamine addiction.

The Sheriff's Department says Lockard will be charged with automobile theft and criminal mischief 1st degree. He will eventually be extradited back to McCracken County.
