This summer, Sprocket, the McCracken County Public Library, RISE West Kentucky, and the Paducah Area Chamber are partnering to present Lemonade Academy. Registration opens Thursday.

Lemonade Academy is a program that teaches kids grades 3rd through 8th entrepreneurship and business skills by training them to launch and operate a lemonade stand. They’ll enjoy courses like Business 101, Lemonade Mixology, Marketing/Branding and Promotion as well as Stand Construction Theory from an impressive panel of local presenters over the course of two super fun Saturday workshops.

Kids will be paired with an expert mentor from the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, apply for and receive a “business license”, get schooled in the art of food safety, and pick the perfect place from which to pitch their product.

On Lemonade Saturday, June 22nd from 9:00 am to noon, the stand locations will be promoted, where an adult must be present at all times, and encouraged to total market dominance, (or at least better business skills)
.
“We can’t think of a better or more fun way to expose kids to entrepreneurship than through the classic exercise of a lemonade stand,” said Michael Ramage, Director of West KY RISE, a regional effort to promote and grow entrepreneurship.

Lemonade Academy is absolutely FREE, and is limited to the first 30 participants that sign up at the McCracken County Public Library web page. https://www.mclib.net/lemonade.

Workshop dates are as follows:

• Saturday, May 11th 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at McCracken County Public Library, 555 Washington Street.
• Saturday, June 8th 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at Sprocket Makerspace, at rear of The Coke Plant, 3121 Broadway.

Featured presenters include Meagan Musselman of Mellow Mushroom, Jonas Neihoff of Socially Present, Chef Patrick Fletcher of the Paducah County Club, Joel Barrett of the Health Department, and Roger Riquelme of Sprocket Makerspace.
