Between 10 AM and 2 PM, Benton Police, Paducah Police, and DEA will be set up at both Paducah Wal-Mart locations and the Benton Walmart to give the public an opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. This will also help prevent pill abuse and theft from homes.
Deputies will accept pills, vaping devices, cartridges, and patches. However, they will not accept liquids or needles. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.
“This is a perfect opportunity for residents to get rid of their unwanted medications,” said Chief Brian Laird. “Many families have leftover prescription drugs, or a loved one has died and the family is left with their medications to dispose of. The drug take-back day gives them a chance to do so in a safe manner.”
