McCracken County Sheriff's Department got a call just after midnight Saturday, and responded to a home on New Hope Church Road. They found 39-year-old Clifford V. Reed outside a neighbor's house, and spoke to the victim, 27-year-old Lauren Emery. They also interviewed Reed's 9-year-old son.
Deputies determined that Reed was intoxicated when he allegedly struck Emery in the face, cutting her nose. When she fled to a neighbor's house, Reed allegedly assaulted his son by picking him up, throwing him on the ground, and kicking him in the back.
Reed was placed under arrest, and during a search, three Oxycontin pills were found on him. He is charged with domestic assault on his son, public intoxication, and possession of a controlled substance.
Both victims were checked by Mercy EMS, but were not taken to a hospital. McCracken County Social Services placed the boy in someone's care temporarily.
