A Paducah man has been arrested and charged with murder after a Wednesday afternoon shooting.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded at 5:03 pm to a call about a woman with a gunshot wound at 6230 Noble Road. They found 60-year-old Judy Stalcup was wounded, and she was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Despite the medical care she received, Stalcup died from her wounds at 5:53 pm.

Detectives at the home processed the scene and interviewed Judy's husband, Anthony Stalcup. He reportedly told detectives several different accounts of what took place in the home, but allegedly admitted to pulling the trigger on the gun that was involved.

Based on evidence at the scene, witness information and Anthony's statements, he was arrested on a charge of murder and taken to McCracken County Jail.

Anthony Stalcup is a convicted felon, so he also faces a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The Sheriff's Department says the case is still active and the investigation was ongoing at 10:39 pm when a press release was issued.
